Clarity

Almost every diamond will contain some blemishes, and inclusions formed during the course of its crystallization. The diamonds clarity grade refers to the visual impact of these characteristics or lack thereof, as viewed under 10X loupe magnification. There is a grading structure (GIA clarity grading scale) used to describe inclusions found within diamond.

F-IF (Flawless or internally flawless)-This is the highest clarity grade. This diamond will have no internal inclusions and is extremely rare.

VVS1-VVS2 (Very, very slightly included) (two grades) these inclusions are extremely difficult to detect at 10X magnification.

VS1-VS2 (Very slightly included) (two grades) these small inclusions are invisible to the naked eye and are seen with difficulty at 10X magnification.

SI1-SI2 (Slightly included) (two grades) these inclusions are visible at 10X magnification and in conventionally cut diamonds (diamonds that have been cut for weight retention rather than light output) can be seen with the naked eye. In a SUPERBcert Super-Ideal, Hearts and Arrows diamond an SI clarity graded diamond will face up absolutely eye clean due to the super ideal hearts and arrows cut and its maximum light return.
